Give the dog a bone and he will love you forever
Just before come night
bone has tell-tale scent
He'll lick with his tongue
exchanging your scent for his
Then bury quickly
hides bone from oncoming storm
Wolves in the forest
and coyotes too there abound
By light of the moon
they'll come in to find his loot
Packs of predators
commotion, chaos erupts
Winter coming fast
wind howls echo through the hills
Dog will sing a rhyme
his stash safe beneath the dirt

I very much enjoyed your tale about the dog and his bone, etc.! I believe you that it's all true.
ReplyDeleteMy dog used to bury everything and then dig it up years later. Luckily we didn't have animals coming and digging them up!
ReplyDeleteThis was a fun read, Jim. It made me think of my dog and how he protected everything--bone or otherwise--that held my scent. He used to steal my socks, lol, and hide them under his bed. Then, when I go home from work, he would be sleeping with his faces in pile made of all the stolen socks. I wonder if he, too, sang a rhyme.
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought it was going to mimic the 'give a dog a bone' nursery rhyme' and then I realized it was another creative word prompt poem. Smart dog.
ReplyDeleteA wordle is not a wordle unless you use all the words There is always one word that causes a problem and often you have to rewrite the whole poem to fit it in...but for me that's the challenge and the fun. Well done !
ReplyDeleteNice one Jim. The dog storing for an unassuming storm day is interesting
ReplyDeleteMuch love...
Well done, Jim, for using all the words in the prompt.
ReplyDeleteLove your tale of the dog. I had a dog once, but it don't bury any bone.
Dogs are smart. Dogs know how to hide the evidence--and the loot!
