Our friend? Winter came
Nature's Price;
Winter in Life
Hermit he became
Lived on Ramen Noodle Soup
Alone in the pond
What went wrong with our fellow?
Some say aging takes its toll
Snapped at his old friends
Wife and kids abused, put down
Now in bitter cold
All are gone, him they have left
Bad alligator's remorse

Great verse, sad tail, uh, tale! Great write.
ReplyDeleteRemorse comes too late and at such a cost! Nicely played!
ReplyDeleteA snappy alligator is not a happy allegator. I love what you did here.
ReplyDeleteNot a happy ending here, but well written, Jim. Speaks sadly to some human relationships I've known.
ReplyDeleteOh I especially like the "bad alligator's remorse". Clever, Jim!
ReplyDeleteI know people this has happened to...you describe it so well, and the alligator is quite a good image.
ReplyDelete…sounds like he got what was due him! Remorse is often too late…
ReplyDeletePoor cold blooded gator, all alone.
ReplyDeleteAh, the price of a snappy jaw. :)
ReplyDeleteSadly, it happened in real life too among some human relationships.
