  2. Hi Jim, this is in reply to your comment on my blog!!
    The only thing similar between Indian and Japenese lanterns is that they are both handmade with paper and hold a lamp or light inside!!
    The traditional Indian ones (as shown in the picture on my OSI post) are called 'Kandil' and are distinctive by the shape; colored paper is worked on a framework of slit bamboo sticks and decorated!!

    This is a real thing. I'm not sure my english is elevated enough to play acrostic with such rules. Oops ! Anyway the deadline is the october 31 or I didn't get the point ?
