Van Gogh's Grove
Van Gogh's Busy Grove
Asleep in Van Gogh's calm retreat
I was awakened by a course
and whisky pitted noise from tongue
'Twas making song recognized not
Children dancing to the burly
I wouldn't call it a dance song
A bed of fallen grapes beneath
Beneath it all their blanket spread
The grapes and rotted fallen leaves
Old newspapers soaked with brown mud
Tripping the children right and left
They blend with the leaves, mud, and goo
Up on the hill it was Van Gogh
Source of the music's horrid songs
Smiling as he played, children laughed
Dancing up the hill, song unknown
Gogh joined their fun, kid's song picked up
They didn't know he was famous
Then not the muddy kids painted
Easy, their mothers did complain

How cool to see the painting and then the real grove itself. It must have been amazing being there. Wonderful, Jim.

Fun interpretation of the painting. Pretty neat that you've stood in the actual grove!
A wonderful contrast of images captured well in your poem - jae
I love how Van Gogh's painting inspired you for your wonderful lines. A delightful read and the photo of the grove is an added bonus, I must say.
Oh I can feel the pleasure and play in your poem and what a wonderful place to visit
If only Van Gogh knew how famous he would be some day long after he passed away.
I love all the details you included!
What a delightful vision!
Get better soon Jim. Hope you return home soon to write more poems about your travel experiences. Take care !
Sorry, that 'Anon' was me.
Get well soon, Jim. The poem fits the painting well and the photos is a bonus.
