One Single Impression: Retirement

.

Retirement

Retirement is what we've been
aiming for
all of our working life.

When it comes, enjoy yourself,
do the things
you've always wanted to do.

As long as it's legal
or won't get you put in jail,
as the adage says,

"JUST DO IT."

Oh yes, don't stop at anything, as long as it is safe and legal, it is your life and not much of it left! Well said.

Now that I'm in my 60s, I remember that in the (19)60s we did not say "Just Do It", that phrase being a Nike slogan that came along later, in the late 80s, I believe. We generally said "Go for it."

Just a thought from an aging but still sharp mind, not quite ready for retirement.

I really like this line all on its own: "Retirement is what we've been," Meaning that what we end up as is what we've always been. But perhaps we just aren't able to "be" what we've always been until we retire. That may not make any sense outside my head though. ;)

Makes good sense to me, Jasmine. :D

I alway tell people that if we don't do something (fishing or writing for examples) before we retire then we likely won't be doing that after either.

My dear friend I feel I must tell you how much I love the poems you write. Would that I had the luck of the draw in life. I am very ill and it is hard to type. You my friend delight me with each poem I read. Write my dear, write on!

with love,
Melanie

Thank you Melanie. I thought of adding a line in the last verse saying, "if you are able," but left it out to keep constant with my three line form.

I enjoy your poems very much also. Please keep up as much as you can for your reader's sake. BTW, I have two other blogging friends with health problems that hinder their writing. One writes only in lower case as that is so much easier for her.
