One Single Impression: Fragrance
God's gift to the nose
sweet aroma hurts my throat
God's curse to my skin
ex smoker confess
Gods curses are worse by far
than words of ex wife
bane of eczema
itching scratching rash--perfume
he's allergic to

Second one is superb!
clutch your fragrance to myself
Awesome verses there!! Loved reading every one of them.. Being a smoker, the second verse was quite prominent!
I know what you mean about the perfumes...loved them when I was younger but now they make me suffer if I am around them...I even use unsented detergents and other products.
Would you believe I can not be around any kinds of sprays for insects.
...and as for smoke, I am an ex-smoker but it chokes me up to be around smoke now.
I wonder...is this one of the rewards of reaching the so called, golden ages??? ...:)
There are not too many perfumes or smokes I can handle either.

I feel for you. Being allergic is really a curse.
I can't decide which I liked best here. I guess they were all excellent.
The older I get, the less I can tolerate perfumes or smoke. So I can most definitely relate to your words! Great read. :~)
black humor!
I am a stanch ANTI-smoker, thanks Jim!
Glad you enjoyed the prompt, interesting interpretations.
These together create a hemmed in feeling and make me think of a friend who is allergic to everything.
fantastic
dark humor indeed. I enjoyed these all , especially the second.
Thank you for your visit to Wild Goose. Sorry the verse disturbed Return and your feathers will be smoothed, I hope.
I can relate to this Jim, because I have the same allergies. Funny, when I am in Georgia I don't seem to be bothered as much ... but here in the oil state --- ouch! I couldn't have said it better.
ooohhh, a real twist on how i imagined this prompt!
an elderly cousin of my mother's once told me how terribly allergic she was to many perfumes & how difficult it was for her to get out, even to church because of this. it convinced me to stop wearing any perfume (& thankfully i was not wearing it that day either).
In addition to these ailments (and other cardiovascular and muscular aging situations) my colonoscopy doctor (interologist) has taken me off nuts. These sumptuous and healthy fruits de forest are now a no-no for me.
..
Caveat Emptor: The above situation is true. Not everything I tell in my 'poems' alluding to personal situations are true for me, Jim.
There is also another fictional 'me' lurking in the back of my mind who sometimes directs my writing thoughts for first person tales.
..
I like the second one, one cannot never dodge's one nature and the after affect
I don't have allergies, but my husband does. These days, I buy unscented products and leave off the perfume in respect for people who are bothered by it.
Your poem fits a lot of us.
These were fun but allergies of any kind are not! Very clever, Jim.
Love both of these! Relate so much to the allergies lol.
For sure, this is a good rash of haiku! :)
GEJ (That's Green-Eyed Jim),
Your second stanza I hit me hard even though I don't have an ex. You see, I DO have horrid allergies that make life a challenge, meaning I want to say "miserable", but try to look at the bright side. I'm sorry you also battle those allergies that are more than "annoyances" some uninformed people feel "that is all it is" and it's so NOT! We know, unfortunately.
I'm allergic to perfume, too (and aftershave, room deodorizer...and the list goes on.) I'm like Maggie in the comment thread, except I'v had this ALL my life, since a baby, not merely in my adult years, plus I haven't smoked, can't smoke, and am also allergic to smoke. (I respect those like you who have quit; it's VERY hard, as I know from friends and family.)
As for eczema, I'm sorry you have that. I inherited that, too. Luckily, it goes in cycles. My skin is so sensitive that's a book, not a blog post! Terrific "one single impression."
I know this is about scent, but it's the sounds in your piece that have me captivated - ex smoker, ex wife, eczema, itch, scratch, rash, "gic". Really enjoyed this!
Kat
great poems- I am not allergic but am itching as I write this (power of suggestion perhaps). I LOVE perfume and would hate it if I could not wear it- I am careful with it for those who are allergic.
your humor is nice!
