One Single Impression: Walls
Walls restrict, walls constrain,
walls confine, walls restrain.
Walls protect, walls support,
walls will cool, walls will warm.
Dark and dank, hate these walls.
Free and safe, love those walls.
Well how to you feel now?
Depends, which side you're on?

Depends also if you are priiviledged enough to have walls (although some people prefer not to have any weighing them down).
When first considering the prompt, I also thought about which side of the walls you were on often made a difference, especially for me as I sometimes suffer from claustrophobia. I'll take my walls with a strong side of windows, please!
I like the repetition of walls. It somehow enhance this poem.
filigreed walls
Very true. Depends on which side of wall.
Liked this. Walls in all their variety - echoing life.
Very astute, Jim. Some people would give a lot to have any semblance of security and safety even if behind walls.
wonderful insight to walls
they are this
and they are that
and perhaps they are even an illusion
You used the prompt beautifully...and I also loved what you said at my blog when you commented:
Doors and windows are wall's most vulnerable places so we do pay a price for our light.
So wisely put! Thanks for your words. :~)
I´d rather be outside the walls...:)
When you really stop and think (like I did reading your poem) there's an awful lot to a 'mere' wall!
Walls offer respite, too.
Didn't quite understand your comment on my blog, but I will keep considering....
walls protect, walls confine
walls are fluid
as desire
A variety of walls each performing - by act or design - very nice.
Jim~ Excellent poem and so true...it really does depend which side you are on- preferably one with a door and window for me, please!
Oh, I really like this Jim!!
I like to be on the nice side, but not everyone has a choice
thanks for your visit
Then there's the upside and downside of walls.
Thanks for this--as usual, your humor is palpable!
