One Single Impression: Dropped


Dropped Off—He said, she said

[He] I'll drop you off on my way,
you won't have to take your car.
I'll pick you up when I'm through.
. . .
[She] No way that I'll be dropped off.



[He] It'll work so good for you.
I'm going by--can you dress?
See all your friends, shop for food.
. . .
[She] I'll tell you what—drop you off.

    I always thought that the "drop you off" expression was a tad sinister (not that the " je vais te jeter" we use at home is better by any account...)

    The tone and the thrown away "no way I'll be dropped off" suggest a darker level. I liked this, Jim.

    Such a simple phrase but so many interpretations. I love the interchange between the two characters each bent of their own reason for wanting to or not wanting to be "dropped off"

    I love watching husbands and wives on the rare occasions I go to the mall. The men always have that "Oh, my God, how did I let myself get talked into this?" look.

    Yes, I'm with Nathalie--it's a little weird to be 'dropped off'.

    While walking the dog this past week, I saw a distant neighbor literally swing up his driveway in his open Jeep, dump his girlfriend? Wife? Concubine? into the driveway and drive off screeching into the night. She was in tears, raging mad. I was disturbed, but don't know either of them. Saw their kids out sitting on the curb on my way back and said hello and let them pet the dog, etc...
    Next morning the jeep is in the driveway.
    Makes ya wonder!

    Sounds typical husband and wife!

    Now, on to buttons. I have tried to find a photo of the button you mention. I remember the button and string toy as well as spinning a top with a string and button or, often as not, a string with a knot in the end. Anyway, send me your address and I will try to find one for you.
