One Single Impression: Circles(OSI 1st Anniversary)

Circles Spinning

spinning circles make
the cycle of poverty
thank God some spin off
OSI's not poverty
polished writers here to stay

I think and I write
you all know I jumped on late
my poems are so poor
oh happy day for the chance
my trivia souls will read

Painting is easy when you don’t know how, but very difficult when you do. Edgar Dégas
The same may go for poetry? (whatever, I enjoy painting with the words!)

    'Are there no prisons?"

'Plenty of prisons,' said the gentleman, laying down the pen again.

'And the Union workhouses.' demanded Scrooge. 'Are they still in operation?'

    'Both very busy, sir.'

'Oh. I was afraid, from what you said at first, that something had occurred to stop them in their useful course,' said Scrooge. 'I'm very glad to hear it.'

  2. "cycle of poverty"
    "my poems are so poor"

This is both literal and a good metaphor.

Poverty, I am afraid will always be with us, such is life .. we do what we can, one family at a time ..

But Jim, don't call your poetry poor, because it's full of your life, your thoughts, and they are sometimes quite unique.

I have to say, your comments on my humble poetry tells me without a doubt that you see me with clear vision .. such as it is with a poet, to look past the facade, into the heart. This my dear friend you do for all of us you take the time to view ...

I like the way you spend your circles ... thank you!

  3. Poverty is a continual cycle, 'cos even if they're raised, so are the rich, so the definition of 'poor' changes.
    Some great thoughts here.

  13. Since this is my first time to contribute, and this is the first time I have read one of your poems....
Lovely that you honored OSI in your writing. If you really feel uncertain,
just keep writing. That is what takes me to the next step and next step. Seems you love to write, that is huge. Thank you for your poem~

  16. Jim,
Have you ever seen the movie or read the book, "The Good Earth" by Pearl S. Buck?

Your poem made me think of how the husband was telling his wedding guest how his new wife could cook...

You cook a fine meal with the pen.
