One Single Impression: If Only I Had Time

If Only I Had Time
I'd clean the garage
I'd buy my spouse a new car
wait that takes money

- - - - - - - - - - -

if I had the time
cookies for the folks I'd make
my time's in the jar

- - - - - - - - - - -

all it takes is time
what they told me long ago
my time's gone I'm old

- - - - - - - - - - -

if I had the time
I'd write a nice little poem
wait I'm no poet

- - - - - - - - - - -

I'd give you the time
clocks have stopped would if I could
if I had the time

Painting is easy when you don’t know how, but very difficult when you do. Edgar Dégas
The same goes for my poetry attempts (don't know how, but I enjoy it!).

  3. Such a fun poem! Especially liked the twist on the cookies in the jar!

Thank you so much for taking time to visit my blog and to read the rest of my poem before I posted it on OSI! I feel quite humble and honoured!

  5. Loved that, Jim! Regrets--both real and not so real. Thanks for the fun and the nudge this poem contains.

  6. Your time isn't gone, Jim. It is just in a different place. I love the cookie verse. I love spending time baking cookie for the people I love, who seem to love gobbling them all up!

Fun, but don't let your wife see it, she will be expecting that car!

  15. Especially like the last one. I have stopped clocks all over my house. Does it hold back time? No, not all.

  16. A simple gift is time... or as the poet said: rapt attention to another's existence.

  20. Hi Jim, I'm finding my way around!
    Thanks for the warm comments.
Time- Life has it's demands doesn't it and nags at us, so then we have to sort through everything- priorities and such...sounds reasonable? Have a good day-

  22. Hey, Jim, neat poem.

As to the cookie press, it is excellent. Sunday our bishop will be visiting and I will make cookies to take. They are the good, sweet, buttery kind of cookie.

  25. Jim. here is a little note more for you. I count my time with every breath I take. You never know(not even the Angels). I spend hours on this PC writing poetry. I am glad that you like some of them.
I know time as both a foe and peaceful friend but most of all the end.
