Certain Sweets - a Poem for dVerse Quadrille

    Tough Times

COVID, COVID, stay away
don't come back another day
We don't like you there's no way
you take our fun make us pay

Mucus, coughing, phlegm persists
Smell, taste, strength, more, diminished
Pushups gone, coffee whiffs weak
chocolate candies' tastes still mine

My Sweetooth's hardy

A Notice:  Now that Thanksgiving has past, I am now posting Christmas Tree stuff on my Christmas Tree Farm blog.  See it at

 - After two shots and two boosters, including the newest, in March, 2022, we took a cross Atlantic cruise from Ft. Lauderdale to Southampton, Britain, U.K.  Then we would be shuttled to London.  On the fifth day of our 16-day cruise, Mrs. Jim came down with the COVID-19, four days later I had it also.  We were then quarantined for the rest of the cruise and afterwards taxied to a motel for another five days quarantine.  U.S. requirements for reentry from a foreign country required a full ten-day quarantine at that time.  Our feet never touched soil until we exited the motel on the following Saturday.

  1. Yes, please, no more COVID! I am sorry to hear that your trip didn't go as planned. What an upset that must have been.

  2. Depressing to hear how the trip turned out! Wow. Two shots, two boosters. Still no good. But you have your SweetTooth and .... your sense of humor: what more can you ask for?!

  6. That is so unfortunate that your trip took a turn into the land of Covid. I am still afraid to travel anywhere. I concur... Covid, hit the road!

  7. It seems like we will have to live with Covid for a while yet... at least fewer get seriously ill or hospitalized
