This lipstick is dry and crackled
Special blend no longer in stores
Been wearing days and days and days
Get off my back I see you there
Lurking and not saying a word
Take off that little smirk of yours
Go away go away be gone
I'll not be your mail order bride.

Suitor spurned!
ReplyDeleteThe old problem of lipstick shades no longer sold. Many a lady can relate to that Jim. This poem made me smile. Have a great weekend my friend.
ReplyDeleteBut... what if I *am* your little mail order bride! What then? Wait, OK, no, I'm not, fine.
ReplyDeleteNicely written.
ReplyDeleteSounds like the lurker/stalker has been following her for awhile. I wish she's tell her brothers, cousins, and/or uncles to come and give him the message to buzz off properly.
ReplyDeleteLove your play of humour, Dr Jim. You have that uncanny ability to make it in strong terms but in fact clearly the witty nature remains! Great!
ReplyDeleteHank
The cracked lipstick really adds to your poem.
ReplyDeleteCreepy. Hope the speaker has a way to get away.
ReplyDeleteThe cracked lipstick sets the tone and shades come and go..much like suitors.
ReplyDeleteOh the lipstick, it stays through all the suitors who don't suit. Hope there is escape from the stalker.
ReplyDeleteBring on the smooth lipstick, bring on the groom … but bride has the last laugh,
ReplyDeleteSmirking and lurking - definitely to be avoided!
