Walking Home
My sales went well today
I can hardly wait to hear
Mama's good words to say
They warm my heart please my ears
Even Mr. Fiesty sold,
My yellow canary friend
Woke us up on mornings cold
Sad this way it has to end
Family will eat today
Mama takes from the money
Markets, venders, food she pays
Laugh and eat still funny dressed
Someday when money's mine
I'll buy Mr. Fiesty back

.
Sorry about Mr. Feisty. Hope you get him back!
ReplyDeleteHopefully Mr. Fiesty is in a good home for now.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine this scene playing out ... over and over again. Cheers.
ReplyDelete“Mr. Fiesty” and “funny dressed” ... my favorites <3
ReplyDeleteBummer! Well, at least you didn't have to *eat* the canary...
ReplyDeleteAwwww, I hope she does get her bird back. A poignant story, Jim.
ReplyDeleteYou spoke for the voiceless here, Jim. So many families just scraping by. Dreams are often the only thing that keeps them going :(
ReplyDeleteHeartbreaking story and brought a chill to the image.
ReplyDeleteOh, sad that the bird had to be sold.
ReplyDeleteA sad tale :( . Hope she sees Mr Feisty again.
