where you from?
[She]
Why do you eat chicken that way
Don't you know it is much better
when you eat while holding it with
your fingers
Reasons come by the multitudes
Main one being of course is that
Main one being of course is that
Fingers were made before your forks
And that way when you're done you can
lick your fingers
[He]
But here's my reason for the fork
Major, differences in locale
Our upbringing tells the story
mine north of Mason-Dixon line
while you're from the South

I am from the South. I eat my chicken with a knife and fork.
ReplyDeleteit's lovely to learn about varying food traditions and styles of eating. An excellent topic for discussion, over dinner!!
ReplyDeleteHa! I can tell you that not everyone from the north uses knife and fork--or even napkins! Still I like how you set this up in dialogue and how the two make claims that place them in the environment.
ReplyDeleteOnce upon a time you didn't have to travel far to find that people did things differently even in small country like England. You only had to go a few miles into the next county to find they had a different accent when they spoke.
ReplyDeleteWhere I grew up you were allowed to eat chicken with your hands I love the dialogue
ReplyDeleteI love the back and forth conversation........and smiled at the licking of fingers.
ReplyDeleteCustoms are funny things!
ReplyDeleteWe believe that fingers were made before forks and act likewise :)
ReplyDeleteGreat way to eat chicken!
