Sins of the mother -- Bits of Inspiration, Keyhole poem

[click on picture twice for largest view]...
There she lived

There she lived beneath the bells
Had her toys, they brought her meals

Only view was through the star
At first she cried, Mama, come

Mama couldn't come, away
For ten years, away and gone

She learned of life through the grill
Seeing things no one could dream

Waiting for someone to come
Love her, take her to their home

Someday will come, until then
She'd do her time like her mom

Sins of the mother visit
Daughter in loneliness pays

  1. Wow! This is a tough look at the reality many live/have lived. Great piece! Thanks so much for writing for the prompt.

  2. So many keys we can only get from our parents... so many possibilities and options lost... and way to many closed doors.

  5. I love this. More so because my first muse was to write about parents and getting an insight into who they were. Couldn't grasp it. I will someday. Yours is awesome!

  6. Sometimes doors are meant to be walked through and closed for good. In her case, too late. Very sad.

  7. Oh so sad--I think of those girls kidnapped, but here, maybe just by the church. Really well done, Jim and so sad--agree with Rosemary and Sherry and all--k.
