Strange Evening at the Bistro ~~ a poem for The Tuesday Platform
Strange Evening at the Bistro
The strangest night at the bistro last night
Lady came, sat with her dog by her side
In her seat, not like Paris at her feet
Hubby heard our talk, we got quiet quick
Play space table for our eats, sans the dog
At the bars, on the stairs, children shouting
Sliding the slides, playing computer games
In comes two tall teens, wanting a good time
They were eating not, just surfing the joys
Two tall skinny girls, ending at the top
Perched on the seats high up. Selfies came next
We'd seen the latest in Scavenger Games
Where was this lax of the laxest bistros?
'Twas our neighborhood fast food McDonald's
Where the sign said, "No dogs, no food tonight"
And, "Playground: Kids age four to ten only"

Sounds about right! Too bad!
ReplyDeleteJust the lighter side of life!!
ReplyDeleteLittle rules go asunder and just having some good time the way teenagers do. The oldies just smile not objecting but getting along with it. Perhaps a normal day these days! Great lines Dr Jim!

To me it sounds like a lively evening more than the intensity of a Paris bistro...
ReplyDeleteThis begs the question as to what has become of fine dining! I had a good laugh at the final stanza as all was revealed.
ReplyDeleteIts amazing how the younger generation raves about fast food and has forgotten about fine dining. Well penned :D
ReplyDeleteWell, I could most relate to the woman with her dog sitting up on the seat next to her, of course. LOL. I enjoyed this, Jim. Hope your move is going well.
ReplyDeleteI like the poem but dislike the dining experience. Seems manners aren't allowed in public.
ReplyDeleteWhat a snapshot - I feel like I was there.
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun, everyone very relaxed!
ReplyDeleteVery funny--you give the place a very neighborhood feel so that it seems far more intimate than McDonalds--but maybe there are not those cozy local places-- so interesting. Thanks, Jimmy. You know I spend time both in NYC and Upstate New York and I do not ever pass near a McDonalds in either place. They have them in NYC but there are not so many in Manhattan; and they don't have anything like that where I am in the country--the bun 'n cone--. k.
ReplyDeleteReally vivid piece, well done. Greetings!
ReplyDeleteIt was a 'neighborhood' McD's, not on a numbered highway or road, just a local thoroughfare. It closes at 11 PM on most nights, is open until midnight on Saterdays. Never is it super busy, there aren't very any large business buildings or shopping places within five miles. They have a different McD's, this one is a foot-in-the-door place to keep Burger King, etc, away, and for future business growth in the area.
ReplyDeleteI.e. a local place now.
..
Ah Chez Mickey D! LOL some are livelier than others
