No help at all -- Flash 55 Poetry

Ate another's bread
Taste not worthy to my tongue
Salted with his sweat

Walked another's path
Rock strewn, pits and snares abound
Stumbled, bruised my bod

Breathless going up
Up and down, steep was his stair
Tumbled each down step

Bear his load I'll not
Heavy, back cracking, I can't
Walked his walk for naught

  1. I like the way you took your inspiration from the Dante quote, Jim. You did a very good job of providing a new perspective on the lines.

  2. So often we take without giving - failing on reciprocity is indeed a strong fallacy

  3. A really interesting poem, Jim--a deep sense of irony here, so succinctly expressed. Thanks. k.

  5. Such an honest piece. We can't walk in the shoes and path of another, but we can leave our footprints beside him/her.
