Blooming redbud tree knows
Is the redbud tree wise?
She stands on guard always
Morning and afternoon
Day and night, all she sees
By the roadside she's seen
Both injury and death
Timid drivers are some
Others elderly be
Teenagers at the wheel
With ears no human knows
She hears secrets untold
Gossip flows--couples walk
Anger and disrespect
Things we don't want to know
On this tree weather's hard
Snow on these blossoms pink
No complaining we hear
She tells not what she sees
Spring's delight for our eyes
Is the redbud tree wise?
Really doesn't matter
We love her anyway
Beautiful tree we see
Her beauty will prevail

That must be a beautiful sight to see - not one I am familiar with - and surely a promise of Spring?
ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous! We have no redbuds here in the Sonora
ReplyDeleteDesert, so really appreciate when someone else can and does.
Yes, it is a very beautiful tree, Dr Jim :)
ReplyDeleteThey hold lots of secrets like benches in the park. They are beautiful trees, yes! Great write Dr Jim!

Nature is living, breathing so why not thinking?
ReplyDeleteHow lovely, Jim. We have an ornamental crabapple tree that blossoms widely pink in the month of May, and the blossoms become food for the deer when snow is deep and winter is hard. I think trees are very wise.

Thanks for the ode. It's wonderful there are things in this world so grand a beautiful and other than us.
ReplyDeleteOh Jim, this is lovely. I have a real soft spot for that tree, which we call Judas Tree for some reasom. The peashaped flowers springing from the trunk always make me smile and I am thankful to have one in my garden.I certainly deserves your Ode.
ReplyDeleteMake that 'It' rather than 'I'
ReplyDeleteDon't think that I deserve an Ode :-)
Beauty and silence - they don't usually go together :)
