My desk

.
My Desk
.
My desk is awry with clutter. It's where I wish I could create
Of my desk I'll tell you no more.
.
There's a place where my dad would write. It's sitting in our hallway now.
Ready to greet a friendly face.
.
A chicken house was his office. Chicks there no more, their smell remained.
Letters there he'd write, Sis and me.
.

.
My desk can't be used, still I write. The nearest table I can find.
Words and thoughts are blind. They don't care.

  1. Your last line says it all. When the words are ready there's no stopping them from coming. I love your father's desk, and note that you too like to write near a window.

  2. yeah, i really get this. that desk is beautiful. i have an old desk in a similar style (though far more worn) that had been my grandmother's. i treasure it, but i don't write at it. :)

  3. Words and thoughts are indeed blind! My Macbook is on a small folding table in our living room, our gathering room! Thanks for sharing this tale!

  6. Your last line is perfect! Words don't care, they might be as happy as we are when they make it to the paper!

  7. I adore that old desk - does you computer not fit on it? If so I would use it! Yup, I have a round table in the kitchen - my drawing often ends up there. You have a window too - I wonder how many of us do! :)

  8. Great assay of the spaces you work in and their lineage. My father is 86 and when he goes I will inherit his monk's table, a writing desk that comes from some abbey scriptorium. Heaven knows where we'll fit it in this crammed house.

  9. How lovely to see the pictures of your creative self ~ Words really don't care where, as long as they are comfy and ready for the birthing ~
