Retirement
Retirement is what we've been
aiming for
all of our working life.
When it comes, enjoy yourself,
do the things
you've always wanted to do.
As long as it's legal
or won't get you put in jail,
as the adage says,
"JUST DO IT."

Oh yes, don't stop at anything, as long as it is safe and legal, it is your life and not much of it left! Well said.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward retirement
ReplyDeleteBlessings
Sounds good to me.
ReplyDeleteYes, just do it! One worked for it for perhaps 30 years! Nicely Jim!

Ha... I think I know those people...tee hee.... Looking forward to "it" since I am only semi-retired.
ReplyDeleteha - love the photo. He remembered his socks but that was all?
ReplyDeleteNow that I'm in my 60s, I remember that in the (19)60s we did not say "Just Do It", that phrase being a Nike slogan that came along later, in the late 80s, I believe. We generally said "Go for it."
ReplyDeleteJust a thought from an aging but still sharp mind, not quite ready for retirement.

ReplyDeletemuch love...
P.S. i'm a retiree blogging writing and photography are my passions, however i remember to put on clothes

Yes! Just!
ReplyDeleteThe photo made me smile, but scared me at the same time, hee hee. Yes, enjoy retirement to the hilt. We waited long enough for it!
ReplyDeleteJust do it! Too funny Jim and that photo is hilarious. I hope retirement is as glorious as you describe :)
ReplyDeleteAh yes!! Just do it!!
ReplyDeleteI really like this line all on its own: "Retirement is what we've been," Meaning that what we end up as is what we've always been. But perhaps we just aren't able to "be" what we've always been until we retire. That may not make any sense outside my head though. ;)
ReplyDeleteMakes good sense to me, Jasmine. :D
ReplyDeleteI alway tell people that if we don't do something (fishing or writing for examples) before we retire then we likely won't be doing that after either.
..
fun pic !!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes , just do it goes well with retirement :D
Good for you my friend. I hope I hold up as well.

"Just do it" to keep our minds alert, Dr Jim :)
ReplyDeleteMy dear friend I feel I must tell you how much I love the poems you write. Would that I had the luck of the draw in life. I am very ill and it is hard to type. You my friend delight me with each poem I read. Write my dear, write on!
ReplyDeletewith love,
Melanie
Thank you Melanie. I thought of adding a line in the last verse saying, "if you are able," but left it out to keep constant with my three line form.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your poems very much also. Please keep up as much as you can for your reader's sake. BTW, I have two other blogging friends with health problems that hinder their writing. One writes only in lower case as that is so much easier for her.
..
So full of spirit! Yes.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments on my post. The world is going mad.....
This is so funny! Thanks for the giggle!
