River of Tears
I lay down my head
I hope to sleep
My river runs high
High with tears I've shed
Shed those tears for you
Dreaming I hear you call
From the other side
That river I'll cross
Meet your arms to abide
River is my dowry for you
Oh were it to come true
Then true to you I'd be
Tears of joy would shout
Years of love we could share
River never running dry

River is my dowry for you
ReplyDeleteI love that line!
A river of tears...so very touching Jim. You've hit an emotional chord with this one!!
ReplyDeleteAt first stanza, I read a beautiful loop poem...then I was lost in transit...:)
ReplyDeleteThe words are as touching like how a river flows...
A lot of emotions all soft and sweet with much feel!! Beautiful Jim!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Amity. Now I have switched the sixth and seventh lines hoping it will flow better. I hope that will make the loop poem's flow less stilted.
ReplyDeleteI've had it both ways. The way you saw it helped a bit with my scan rhyme scheme. I think the capitalization of the first letters may also hurt its flow.
Thank you again,
..
I loved it ji... you took the river flowing so well.. lovely lines these:
