Old dogs and old tricks
searching my soul today, finding pups of all sorts
impotent hounds trying to make love with their kin
molesting is too good a word for their antics
nightmares come forth easily for their prey, sic em
cheesy they try to be, dog full of baloney
moonlight softens making pale light for hounds in love
Bright enough, it siluettes lightning bugs for jars
Bitches safe but scared bejeebies, their short hair curls
sun will shine in the morning, new or tired is all
The naughty dogs will come home to eat and to rest
calm is a word some don't know. Fed, they'll go again
aubades for the ladies, know not old suitors safe

The idea of "impotent hounds trying to make love with their kin" leaves a strange--uneasy and mildly grossed out--image in my head...
Very interesting use of the 12 words, Jim.

A fascinating write. I feel that the dogs are thoughts in their rawest form, untamed and sometimes unwanted. I'm not sure if that's what you were going for, but that's what I gleaned from it.
Beautiful dog in the picture! Surely this dog is a thought of the pleasant variety. :-)

I have a feeling you talk about men and not dogs.

Ha--a very interesting poem--I like dogs a lot but they do have their baser instincts as do people. Not a love poem--though I think you have a certain affection here too. k.

Old dogs and old tricks
They're obviously adept at it. New tricks are the ones wanting, perhaps!
