Weeds of My Path -- a Poem for dVerse, Poetics (every Tuesday)

Growing wild in this pot, I did not plant these
. .
Weeds are traditionally wrong
growing places they don't belong
Cornstalk in the bean field grows high
Traditional thorn in the thigh

I picked this clump of clovers beside the sidewalk
leading to downtown Killarney, Ireland.

Weeds are pretty in their own way
Four leaf clover in the walkway
Or petaled blossom from the wild
An abandoned orphan poor child

You're my weed forever ever
I vowed, promised leave you never
Placed in a crack here by my side
I'll love you always, precious bride

My one flower with the clovers

As we pick the weedy flower
You're one only of your dower

Ah, love as a tenacious weed, growing in an unexpected place!

I like the rhyme scheme and rhythm of your poem, Jim. I think weeds speak to the ever-present child in me.

I think that weed are often flowers that have a bit more resilience than we like...

I like this very much, Jim. I have clover too in a pot with basil. I hope you will be able to have some potted plants in your balcony.
