- Last night about 4:16 I woke up and could go right back to sleep. Seemed I was thinking of the three troubles in my song above, came into my life Sunday and Monday.
- A friend had gone to assisted living, news of another friend my age dying and his funeral last week which I missed, and the news of the Barbara Bush, our beloved former First Lady from 19 to decision to stop further medical treatment and seek “comfort care”. - Since I wasn't sleeping, I decided to write this poem for today, writing of my thoughts, three different situations that can come with aging. I say "writing", actually as I often do with my writing, I composed it on Google Blogger using my old Galaxy 5 smart phone.
- * When troubles come, aka "Let It Be", written by Paul McCartney of the Beagles, thinking of his mother:
"
Let It Be",("Let It Be" Version)
"When I find myself in times of trouble
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom
Let it be
And in my hour of darkness
She is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom
Let it be
(Refrain verse next)
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom
Let it be
And when the broken-hearted people
Living in the world agree
There will be an answer
Let it be
For though they may be parted there is
Still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer
Let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
Yeah, there will be an answer
Let it be
(Refrain two times)
And when the night is cloudy
There is still a light that shines on me
Shine until tomorrow
Let it be
I wake up to the sound of music
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom
Let it be
(Refrain)
Let it be, let it be, let it be, yeah, let it be
There will be an answer
Let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, yeah, let it be
There will be an answer
Let it be
(Refrain)"

I'm not so sure she's giving up as to instead "embracing courageously what is next". Lots to admire in this woman, I agree.
Admirable Lady... wonderful poem Jim
much love...
I totally agree with Margaret. I watched my mother deteriorate from being merely bedridden to dying, all in a few short weeks. She was ready to go. She never gave up. But she knew when it was best to leave. Good poem Jim
Yes, she was clearly loved and appreciated by many. A life well lived, and a death accepted graciously when it came.
Life goes on with or without you - and making peace with it makes life a whole lot easier.
