NaPoWriMo 2018-04 -- Day 4, a Poem for Mom

First  Dandelions

The first two dandelions
were growing wild, in our yard
Our eight-year-old granddaughter
had the honor of picking

The first had gone to white seeds
she blew the seeds to the wind
Second was a nice yellow
that one she saved for her mom

  1. I remember how long it took me to accept that dandelions carried a curse of weed also as flowers.

  2. Thanks, Bjorn. I hardly ever think of them being weeds. In Texas we classify them as wildflower, weed is a bad word.

  3. They are weeds here in Australia, but I always loved them (so did my Dad).

  4. I just learned the dandelions are the first food for bees. I love their sunny yellow, and the white seeds that blow in the wind.

  5. I love dandelion sunshine! I hope she made a wish on the seeds before she gave the yellow one to her mum. :)

  6. I agree, so sweet. I can picture the little one giving the dandelion to her mom :-)

  7. Oh, I love dandelions. I always picked them when I was a child to deliver to my mother. She's put them in water and place them on the kitchen table.
