One Single Impression: Creative

Creative and Clever
Old Man

He's so creative they said.
Clever devil too they add.*
Talking about an old man,
a man of seventy some.

What's so special about him?
Nothing you wouldn't do if,
if you could. Father a kid,
this man of seventy some.

  1. Neither Mrs. Jim nor I could remember who this man was.
Even so, we have this inside saying between us when an older man becomes a new parent: "How clever he is!"

  9. My father was old when I was born. I see a lot of old folks with young children. I don't think I could handle it, as my grandchildren wears me out after thirty minutes ...

... I have an older brother who did this more than once, and laughed about how they would not take child support from his social security check --- well the joke was on him, as the state created a law to "cleverly" put him in the poor house. I call that creative justice!

    Enjoyed the read Jim.

  11. Personally speaking, I would think any man who would father a child at such an old age is not thinking of the child at all...just his own satisfaction.

I believe there is a season for all things and when I became a grandparent...I had no desire to have more children.

A child needs parents who can love and be an important part of their life...it would be a sad thing for a toddler to visit daddy in a home for the aged.

I think it is an ego thing with some men to see how long they can plant seeds...it is just a shame they seldom are around to nuture the seeds.

I pity the wife and children.

  12. Ha ha ha...Oh Jim, you equate cleverness of a man as being creative for being able to father a son at his twilight years?

that maybe a blessing, but not if the kid is illegitimate!

  13. Jim--
You made me laugh out loud, especially with your first comment. How clever...and I loved Anthony's riff on yours...maybe just persistent!

Fun--you are so quirky! In the best possible interpretation!

  15. Jim, first of all you are not an old man. Old men are dead and you are not. I loved your poem sweetie. I can't think of a thing to write about.. Well done my" old man." :-)
