Our local Early Ford V-8 Club had an outing. We went to the Lienda Plantation after meeting at 10:00 in the morning to drive together from Magnolia, Texas.
These pictures show a little of the Texas scenery we encountered along the way. We were south of the hills we have around our home in Montgomery, everything was flat. There weren't even any freeways with those little overpass bumps.
A few of the cars were newer than our charter recognized. I was in my 1998 Ford Mustang GT Convertible (scroll down in picture), with the top down, there were a 1957 Ford T-Bird and a 1980's Mercedes belonging to members who did not drive their early fords.
Early Fords are from 1932 to 1953, the years that Ford had a flat head V-8 engine as an option.

BTW, I am going to a funeral today. Please, y'all, leave a comment and I'll come check yours when things are calmer around here.

Jim, Texas is beautiful .. it's where I take my vacations. Last year we went to the hill country, and took a nice boat ride.
ReplyDeleteI think so many in these hard economic times are re-discovering the beauty of America.
Texas is a land rich in diversity, and I love going up to Frederickburg, it's like a mini visit to Germany. The culture is so rich.
Then again, I love country road, horses, and old antique vehicles, new and old. Nice photos ... I know you all had a good time ...!
Some beautiful, puffy-cloud skies you've captured

Beautiful scenery, and it is amazingly flat. The blue in the sky of the first photo is brilliant.

beautiful countryside! sorry to hear of your loss.
ReplyDeleteYour 'Stang is great, although isn't black a sort of contrary color in really hot Texas?
ReplyDeleteThere is a charm to the flathead, Henry's low cost V-8. Although weren't the earliest ones prone to overheat as the exhaust crossover pipe went on top of the engine? That said, the 1932 'B' coupe Victoria is a beautiful car, even today...
That's quite the nice plantation there and it looks like you had a nice drive getting there. I really like the picture of the grayer skies over the pasture - very nice!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely trip and the car show looks like loads of fun.
ReplyDeleteHave a terrific day and weekend Jim. Big hug. :)
Yes, most definitely flat as far as the eye can see! I love the plantation building. Nice to take us along on your trip.
