Motorcycle Riding
When I was younger -----
Riding on two wheels ----'
That was great for me -----
-----
My Vespa scooter -----
Second car for us -----
Rode to work each day -----
-----
When little richer ----
Honda two wheeler -----
Four-fifty served well -----
-----
Then married with kid -----
parked the bike for good -----
No chances taken -----
. . .

Ah, but you still have the exciting memories! Motor-bike riding was a fond dream for me which I never fulfilled, and it's far too late now. About twice in my whole life I experienced being on the back of one: small tastes of heaven! (My first husband rode a motor-scooter, and I was on the back of that a lot – not at all the same thing.) Do you wonder that I loved the film 'Easy Rider'?
ReplyDeleteI too liked "Easy Rider" and liked the actors and their families .

I have had one motorcycle ride in my life ~ on the back of a cycle my oldest son had at that time. From Roswell Georgia to Ball Ground Georgia. Lots of miles. I felt like Motorcycle Mama. Good to read your poetry, always.
ReplyDeleteNice same with my husband He gave up his bike for his young family but a few years ago he bought one back and now goes riding with a same aged group every week
ReplyDeleteMarja, I'd love to do that but my senior age says "no, no." My son is single at 65 and he bought himself a new BMW motorcycle.
DeleteYou have made memories with your bike Jim.
ReplyDelete"No chances taken" A very wise man! The only motorcycles I've ridden were my older brother's. And he liked to scare me. Same with his speed boat. He as well into adulthood then too.
ReplyDeleteI loved all the motorcycles rides I had (on back). You have great memories of your times on your bike.
