Play

Play the radio
Play it so very loud
Play so car mirrors vibrate

Play it loud
Play it louder still
Play it so our ears will hurt
Play until neighbors say "turn it down"

Play the radio
Play it louder and louder
Play it so the speakers cry "stop!! stop!!!"

Play it loud
Play it louder than loud
Play until the fuses get red hot
Play it so cars around honk their horns
Play it louder still so cars around shake their fists

Play it... play it... Play it...
until it says "Oops"
quietens down
and stops
dead

 - I love to turn to some "just right" music and watch the mirrors shake and feel the vibes from the seat.

  1. Jim, I love to kick out the jams while I'm driving. In the city, the windows are open, but out on the highway I roll them up or I can't hear the music. Maybe I need a better set of speakers? I like your poem, both message and shape of it.

  3. Love the poem, the rhythm of it. Also love that our city has finally considered a noise ordinance. It's not that I object to loud music. I object to having non-music inflicted upon me! (I know, it's subjective.)

I love the speakers crying as if in pain, and I love the radio giving out. That's happened to me in more than one car.

  7. I love loud music when it's mine, not so keen on hearing others though! Great poem, Jim.
