The Sunday Muse -- Time's Big Change

Doom

The Moon shone brightly, storm was gone
One small cloud stayed for company
Both had hope for the universe
All others fled there were no stars

The moon the cloud and one lone bird
Just those three and oodles of wet
Old Sol was spewing fire brimstone
Puking like a drunken old man

The bird ignorant it played dumb
The Moon was tired and growing dim
The fluffed cloud was seeking a lamb
The Sun nearly emptied his gut

After that it was all lights out
One cloud to float away, bird dies

  1. What a dreadful, dire, doom-filled, dystopian scenario you've presented us, Jim, but apparently the moon and the one lone cloud had some hope. Thank heaven!

  2. Is this a result of sleep deprivation? LOL. Just kidding. I enjoy these journeys you share.

    1. I don't have sleep deprivation. When I was an Aerospace Engineer at NASA Houston and also back to college, a guard there was a full time student taught me his trick.
      1) Determine the length of your REM's
      2) gradually work your sleep down to just over that length
      3) add a bit longer, I made mine four or five hours
      4) that should be how much sleep you need for your body to get its act together for the next day
      5) every few or less crash for a longer sleep, your physical body might need for its rest
Now the working student will have more time to study.
Most nights I don't get more than six hours still, haven't ever since that day I started.

  7. A Damocles sword hanged over there in the last stanza. You did a fine job with the prompt, Jim :)

  8. Not every story has a happy ending, no matter how much we wish they did. Dark story for a dark image, Jim.

  9. So sad that the bird died. I guess the storm was too much!
