Pleasant eating out with Nature
Fast food, lunch on deck
Little green friend, eats bugs, lunch
White flower grows bugs
_ _ _ _
Green by blue water
Canoes, fishing, party boats
White herons soaring
_ _ _ _
Sunshine, sit and chat
Hours later time it's to go
Pick up trash, some don't

Notes:
- Our assignment was to write Haiku about the expression of nature – we’ll celebrate and recognize haiku today because today is NATIONAL HAIKU POETRY DAY –April 17!! -- National Haiku Foundation blog (link)
- We’ll speak in the tongue of nature…any facet of the wild-natural-world that we choose. Express your poetry today in the traditional style of haiku or step into a modern manifestation of haiku in English.
- In my three-set poem, I probably started with Haiku and ended with Senryū.
- There was a White Heron trying to catch fish but I didn't get its picture.
I really like that second one, Jim!
ReplyDeleteLovely afternoon in haiku and images...I like that you included your nature friends, too, Jim...thank you for writing.
ReplyDeletegeckos, herons, sunshine - love! The trash is a sad commentary on the laziness of people.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good life Jim.. long lunches... mmm.

ReplyDeleteSweet haiku, Jim. I am glad you pick up trash!!!! and maybe there are too many party boats! I once spent a few days on Lake Conroe--it was super nice. (My brother is a professor at TAMU.) k.
ReplyDeleteGreat work on your haiku, Jim! Sounds like a wonderful outing!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed all of these and the photos are stunning...my kind of views. I'm a water sign and thought it meant nothing but I do gravitate toward water.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting. We've had fresh bass but no turtle or catfish yet.
Have a blessed weekend.
Sounds and looks like a great afternoon! :o)
ReplyDeletethat joy is beautifully held in these lines and lens and delights us...lovely set :)
ReplyDeleteLovely outing, I want to see a Heron!
ReplyDelete...And I am there.
ReplyDeleteLove the photos. Looks like a perfect outing. Your second haiku is my favorite
ReplyDeleteNice! I'm reading for a day like that.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your evolution from haiku to senryū. Not just because I was envying the wonderful day you had, but because it was written skillfully and light. Also, because from nature comes man... so your transition makes perfect sense.
ReplyDeleteSounds like the perfect day.
