One Single Impression: Liquid

.

Liquid;
help and hurt

Fueled with jasmine oil the romance was hot
love kept it kindled such a sweet couple

Later in life there came troubled water
'he' quenched our fire a cold shoulder remained

Separate ways we went experienced two
wary of every stone--left some unturned

Soon two plus two equals two couples new
seasoned chill resistant with second starts

  6. You worked the liquid metaphor very well in this poem - a familiar tale, a sad old story.

  7. And we wonder Jim why 50% of marriages end up on divorce. The jasmine oil cools off. :0 I read your poem and after the first couple of lines knew that couple was in trouble. You confirm it later with the split. I like to flow and vocabulary in your poem. An excellent read and take on the prompt.

  8. I couldn't find an email address for you ... so here goes with info on the iron horses!

    Greg Congleton has constructed life-size draft horses pulling a 42” diameter Ponderosa log. He doesn't just fabricate steel sculptures out of new steel but builds the form out of many interesting items that have had a former life. One horse is male and the other female. Says Greg, "he is more tuned to the industrial age with a gas engine and truck transmission while she is more ropes and pulleys technology with an antique hay trolley and Singer sewing machine. The log contains vintage chain saws and a misery whip."

  9. What a curious image Jim. It is such a unique pairing with the poem. Relationships may start out hot but they can fizzle. Nicely written.

  12. The shape of life is fluid--liquid--but not without its choppy waters.

    It's good to be here, Jim. Work is crazy and time flies; it's good to come back.

  13. Well, this is different! Quite a lot to take in and think about. I like Sandy's comment about the choppy waters!
