a New Word poem ~~ Flash 55

New word in town;
meet "Lacuna"

Now and then I learn a new word

Be it big or small, nice or not,
Brittle or chewy, sweet and sour
"Lacuna" sounds Spanish to me

Not sure what I was thinking of

Schoolboy, say it one hundred times
"Lacuna" today, gaping teeth
'Twill be forgotten tomorrow

 - Top Photo (2016) -- Probably from our 2007 (2007 link 'a' ) (2007 link 'b') visit to Scotland, but not posted before.  It is an unusual semi-detached cottage situated next to a Church of Scotland chapel we found out in the country but I have no idea now where we were (I sure do hope it is my picture, one that I took!!). The property must be over 100 years old and was probably was once the residence of the pastor or church beadle.
 - Middle photo (2016) -- I took this one during our train ride to visit Northamptonshire this summer.
 - Bottom photo (2011) -- [large picture] [super sized] If you like art then go to Europe. We found this Cézanne original in the Lautrec Museum in Albi, France. It is by Paul Cézanne (1839 to 1906) and yes, he was pretty quirky. (For more of our trek to the Albi click here.)(Cézanne Wikipedia link)

Tonight I'm linked with Kerry O'Conner at her post in the Imaginary Garden with Real Toads, Flash 55 Plus!  [http://withrealtoads.blogspot.com/2016/08/flash-55-plus.html ]

As usual for the Flash 55 Plus! post it must (1) be exactly 55 words and (2) preferably use Kerry's new-to-me word, "Lacuna".  I did both, counting my title.

Lacuna: a noun
an unfilled space or interval; a gap.
"the journal has filled a lacuna in Middle Eastern studies"
  • a missing portion in a book or manuscript.
  • ANATOMY
a cavity or depression, especially in bone.

Hence my schoolboy with missing teeth (a gap, a "lacuna").

By day I ... a troubled Poem for Tuesday Platform

     By day

By day I sleep, at night I work

O Dreams, will you devour me
I dream the dream that changes men
In my dreams I am a woman,
devil woman who preys, poor soul

In my Dreams my subjects are those
they who have no power, succumb
They are men who sleep, play, at night
For them there's no rest, nor for me

O Devil woman of my Dreams
Why do you scream, pleasure abounds

O Dreams, will you devour me
dreams only few will ever know
In my dreams I am a woman
A woman who devours her man

In my dreams they scream with their pain
pain that few men will ever know
Pain that cannot be told they find
Why do you scream, pleasure abounds

O Devil woman of my Dreams
Why do you scream, pleasure abounds

O Sleep, will you give me release
release me from this dreaded dream
I've endured their pain, not their plan
Pain that doesn't stop, never ends

In my dreams day becomes the night
and I become a woman, wild
A devil who knows no regret
For them there's no rest, nor for me

O Devil woman of my Dreams
Why do you scream, pleasure abounds

By day I dream, at night I work

I'm linked with Kerry O'Connor at the Imaginary Garden with Real Toads
http://withrealtoads.blogspot.com/2016/08/the-tuesday-platform.html

There, at the garden, today open forum at the Tuesday Platform, Kerry presented a YouTube of Draconian singing the following song.  It gave me the troubled theme idea for my poem today:

Death Come Near Me

By day I sleep, at night I weep!

O Death, come near me!
Be the one for me, be the one who stays.
My rivers are frozen, and mischosen,
and the shadows around me sickens my heart.

O Death, come near me,
and stay (by my side). Hear my silent cry!
In sadness I'm veiled, to the cross I am nailed,
and the pain around me freezes my world.

My cold world...
In life I've failed,
for years I've wailed.
Frozen in time... left behind...
The rapture of grief is all to find...
The rapture of grief is all!

Behind the shadow of life the lost hopes are grieving.
I seek the night and hope to find love...
So I drown in the silence of lifes short eternity.
The tears fills the void in my heart astray...
Embrace me now, delightful ease!

Give me a world of wonderous peace!
Calm the desperate scream in my heart!
O Death, come near me,
save me from this empty, cold world!

O Life, you have killed me,
so spare me from this couldron of misery!
In life I cry, away I fly...
Chosen to fall within these walls.

The rapture...
The rapture of grief is all!
Oh, shed a tear for the loss of innocense,
for the forsaken spirits who aches... in us.

Cry for the heart who surrenders to pain,
for the solitude of those left behind!
Behold the pain and sorrow of the world,
dream of a place away from this nightmare.

Give us love and unity, under the heart of night.
O Death, come near us, and give us life!
I this world of pain I am better of dead!
Give me love, or give me... death!

O Death, come near me!
I have summoned you!
