Uncomfortable
A little discomfort when I awoke
They said that was how it would be

Two Oxycontins and a morphine drip
Little plus 'on demand' all helped a bit

Red, red rose, loving gift from my sweetheart,
That thoughtfulness from her helped me so much

Best of all she was there her smiling face
Always there ever glowing in the night

On July 18th my orthopedic surgeon replaced my left knee joint with a pre-manufactured one. I came home from the hospital on Friday. A blog series about 'My Operation" is currently in progress at Jim's Little Blog.

I didn't know then but July 18th would also be the beginning of my opioid addiction.

having fried chicken
every Sunday after church
grew up on the farm
for these birds was no respect
liking's changed in older years

Notes:
1. "La palabra que crece con los otros" translated literally means "the word that grows with the other." I believe the second 'the' probably should be an 'an' making it say "a word that grows with an other." Sandra may correct this in her comment??
2. KFC had a buy-one get-one-free coupon that expired today. We used it after church which reminded me of how tired of friend chicken I had once become. BTW, both of these two piece meals with side and a drink were $5.00 plus tax.

Crater

He's dug himself a big hole, woe is he
He's squandered all his money on the horse
Hole not for swimming rather to bury
Loser he picked is winning not. His curse

Don't wait, that crater will be filled today
He's made his peace with the Lord, He'll forgive
Death by the shovel that dug is his way
Tomorrow you'll find him not though he lives

Horse nagged him once too often for his ears
He's killing his wife of too many years

Or this:
