One Single Impression: Denouement

Denouement

swine time we celebrate in fall
hog calling you can enter once
pig racing calls to place your bets
and best dressed piggy rules for lunch

little greased pig it runs so scared
could get caught by brave child quite small
climax georgia—miss swine time danced
she's known when crown adorns her head

A hard day's play in France [part 1] -- Looking At the Sky -- Our Spring 2009 Europe Holiday

This would be a busy day made busier.

We went to Homps to ride a canal boat on the Canal du Midi. When we got there we found out that in late April they only ran the afternoon ride so we had to figure out what to do whit our morning.

By unanimous vote it was decided we would visit an old town a bit to the north.

I will show you around that quaint little town which once had been a medieval fortress city.

[click any picture for large size]

The boat captain (only he and a boat attendant would be on our little canal boat) suggested that we drive north to Minerve (link).

We couldn't take the tour (we wouldn't anyway) because we had to have eaten and be back to Homps by 1:00.

The cat was at the restaurant outside eating area.

We made it back in plenty of time for our canal boat ride. I will post from that nice ride next time.

After our boat ride, our busy day would continue. Old town, Carcassonne, was next on our journey. See the map below.

We had fun. I will write more of our Spring 2009 Europe Holiday later.

One Single Impression: Dropped

Dropped Off—He said, she said

[He] I'll drop you off on my way,
you won't have to take your car.
I'll pick you up when I'm through.
. . .
[She] No way that I'll be dropped off.

[He] It'll work so good for you.
I'm going by--can you dress?
See all your friends, shop for food.
. . .
[She] I'll tell you what—drop you off.

One Single Impression: Tolerance II

Tolerance

ignorance is bliss
tolerance not much I have
straight to jail you go

foolishness is out
'cause tolerance none I have
don't be in my court

repentance if true
then tolerance some I have
charity abates

On the Road to Albi -- Looking At the Sky -- Our Spring 2009 Europe Holiday

I could tell it was going to be a nice day,
not a cloud in sight in France's big blue sky!

We were headed to Albi, France, to visit the Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec Museum (link). I have a picture (print, copy) Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (link) painted for my office and this would be an opportunity to see more of his original art.

I am glad we did because of the small things, being there with his associations, and seeing so many of his paintings in one sitting helped me appreciate this man still more.

My opinion of him? At first he painted fairly run-of-the-mill pictures of people. There may have been a slight impressionist leaning in some. Towards the end of his life he was so intrigued with dancers at the Moulin Rouge (Paris) and prostitutes that that was about all he painted. Well, he was still painting entertainment posters. I would like to have one of those or a copy.

These are pictures we took at a pull-out along the way. We were staying in Caunes-Minervois (link) which is a short drive from Carcassonne, France. At first there were a lot of grape fields which soon gave way to pastures with cows and sheep.

Then we hit the mountains. From the pictures you might guess were in West Virgina, U.S.A, complete with mills along the river down in the valley. We would next go down into this little town, Mazamet (
link), to the market. Thursday (April 23, 2009) was market day for Mazamet. Sorry, pictures, we were to busy eating our food and shopping.

I never did figure out what the fields of yellow were. The plants were about height of yellow clover but they were courser and bushier. Anyway they matched the colors of the old John Deere tractor.

The tractor was decoration for the middle inside the turn-about. I went around twice to get the better picture. Of course the road was one way. How could a person miss with nice blue signs like this?

Finally we got to Albi. Parking was going to be a problem, but they must have known we were coming and saved this Handicap parking place just for me. I always travel with my hanging Texas Handicap Parkng Permit.

One Single Impression: What's It Like?

What's It Like?

to be on top wound up too tight
then flying loose no holding hand
crashing the walls rolling on edge
spinning too fast circling wobbling

jump off that top while you still can
your bones will break your mind will bend
what a dead end--free at the game
kids abusing--doll head bobbling

We are back -- Looking At the Sky -- Our Spring 2009 Europe Holiday

Jimmiehov, Jimmiehov, where have you been?
I've been to Paris to see the Eiffel.
Jimmiehov, oh Jim, what did you do there?
I kissed Mrs. Jim, there by the Seine.

One Single Impression: Tactile

.......T A C T I L E
Touch tenderly tonight
And make it be alright
Cuddle softly snuggle
Touching smoothly fondle
Inner throbs and pulses
Loving warm white juices
Eat--nuzzle soft mama
