One Single Impression: Smoke

Remember When

where there's fire there's smoke
us kids on the loose in town
thousand eyes watching

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Don't Remember When

smokey bar in town
whiskey sours -- rye on the rocks
he don't like the smoke

whiff and sniff the air
much cleaner breath found next door
no one here he finds

lonesome -- on the town
back he goes cigar in mouth
smoke rings now he blows
sips fine bourbon laced with gin
sicker than a louse he got

puked his guts all night
he'll blame it on the cigar
'twas smoke done him in

Hub Cap Reflections ... Looking At the Sky

I got this one because I liked the truck. I didn't have Sky Looking in mind then. So it doesn't show much sky. The vehicle is a 1950 Ford Pickup truck.

This one does show some sky. It is on my friend's 1951 Lincoln that was pulled along side me on a public street waiting for the light to change.

The picture on the left shows that we are really on the street. You can see my 1974 Green Mustang II Ghia in the hubcap, waiting beside it for the light to change.

The light did change. Now the '51 Lincoln is the fourth car up. I showed this one for you to see a SKY PICTURE. I didn't want to cheat too badly for this Sky Looking Day post.

An added goody, this road is closer than two miles away (south) of our home. We were on our way to another car club meeting at a member's home. He lives in our subdivision, less than a mile from me.

One Single Impression: Equals

Two. e q u a l s .a pair

Two pretty young maidens
With too much ale
Only one will prevail

Evenly divided
Quarrels aloof
Under the lights they're cool
All about turf
Into the ring they go
Showing their stuff

At the bell they do charge

Pray for souls please Mama
All is unfair
It stinks to high Heaven
Rigged this affaire

Getting there is half the fun ... Looking At the Sky

Our local Early Ford V-8 Club had an outing. We went to the Lienda Plantation after meeting at 10:00 in the morning to drive together from Magnolia, Texas.

These pictures show a little of the Texas scenery we encountered along the way. We were south of the hills we have around our home in Montgomery, everything was flat. There weren't even any freeways with those little overpass bumps.

A few of the cars were newer than our charter recognized. I was in my
1998 Ford Mustang GT Convertible (scroll down in picture), with the top down, there were a 1957 Ford T-Bird and a 1980's Mercedes belonging to members who did not drive their early fords.

Early Fords are from 1932 to 1953, the years that Ford had a flat head V-8 engine as an option.

One Single Impression: Farewells

Fond Farewells

fond farewells happen
kiss hug grin smile when she goes
most often so sad

fond farewells happen
thank God and Greyhound she's gone *
gone is love--her too

fond farewells happen
I found out the hard way now
I'm already gone *

cried and cried some more
it wasn't so fond at all
not a fond farewell
when will sobbing ever stop

elusive sleep * -- Valium

this one is not fond
my little creature Adi
sorely missed my dog

Looking At the Sky … On the road again, seen past Lake Conroe

Smoke over the water
soon there will be.
I must go meet a friend,
can't wait to see.

I'm on the road again
to meet my friend.
The firefighters will come,
the smoke will end.

I'll find out tomorrow
what's in the air.
Papers will tell me then
or do I care?

One Single Impression: Fork in the road

- - - - - - - -

which way should we go
for here's a fork in the road
you call — heads or tails

- - - - - - - -

[below is a part of Jim's May 20, 2006 post]

yesterday on our walk
my Adi and I came
to this fork in the road

.

didn't take either path

went straight up the middle

through those trees — ending up here

One Single Impression: Circles(OSI 1st Anniversary)

Circles Spinning

spinning circles make
the cycle of poverty
thank God some spin off
OSI's not poverty
polished writers here to stay

I think and I write
you all know I jumped on late
my poems are so poor
oh happy day for the chance
my trivia souls will read
